Upgrading your backyard patio will not only make it more appealing but it will also increase the value of your property. However, that does not mean that you must spend substantial amounts of money customizing your patio. With a little creativity, you can design attractive and affordable backyard patio and patio roofing.
Container Garden
One of the most inexpensive ways of decorating your patio is by adding plants to your patio. Growing small ornamental plants in long thin planters along the side of your patio will give it a sense of intimacy.
Growing an ornamental tree such as Japanese maple in a planter in the middle of your patio will give the patio a focal point. Alternatively, consider planting flower s with varying blooming times in separate containers. Put the flowers with different blooming times in the patio and then rotate them with other containers in bloom once their flowers die.
Inverted Patio
Many patios feature relatively expensive materials such as bricks and stones, but designing a good-looking patio does not have to be expensive. You can create an affordable patio design by inverting the design of your patio with a flat patch of grass surrounded by brick and stone borders.
Put in benches, chairs, tables and any other item you wish to have on your patio. Create a geometric effect by laying trails of bricks across the patio to divide it into two to four quadrants. Alternatively, leave the space open, as it would feel just as welcoming as the normal brick patio.
Patio Re-use
Save money and give your patio an aesthetic element by using affordable secondhand materials for your patio. Purchase bricks and lumber at a thrift store or visit a demolition site and ask if you can purchase some of the bricks. Build a fire pit using old metal washtubs or truck wheels. You can build chairs for your patio using logs, tree stumps, milk crates, or metal buckets.
Floor
If you have not created a patio area yet, you have the affordable option of creating one. Although concrete is one of the most popular patio surfaces, you can add character to your patio without concrete paving. Buy affordable concrete paving stones and hire patio builders to fill your patio with concrete stones.
Concrete patio stones come in a wide range of colors, but the most popular colors are plain gray and pale red. Treat the concrete patio stones with colored concrete stains and finish with a sealer before installing them. Stains are also available in a wide range of colors to provide homeowners with variety.
Once you have installed the pavers and leveled them, fill in the gaps between the concrete pavers with sand to help create the perfect paver patterns.
When looking for patio design ideas, you need to determine how you will use your patio space. You can create a reading zone, a children’s play area, and a barbecue and entertaining area. Your patio design can be budget-friendly and reality-based. Consider weather and traffic patterns when budgeting for your patio.
